I’m so pleased it’s finally June! There were many times all through spring where I wondered if the sun would ever return, whether the plants were going to just hibernate forever. But finally I feel I can relax, my warm weather clothes can stay in my wardrobe and I can finally put away my boots! June, for me, is the month where I feel like stuff can get done. I’ve woken up, shaken off the dark morning blues and enjoy the long evenings and light. I have some energy that once the stodgy summertime of July and August sets in is often hard to recapture. With the summer solstice just around the corner (almost 17 hours of daylight, oh my!) this is the perfect time to reflect.

As you know, I’m a big advocate of taking time to reflect on your Creative Practice regularly. I spent a good chunk of time in January looking back at 2017 and thinking about what I’d like to happen in 2018. And then, at the equinox in March, with the seasons in balance, I took a look again, just to see how I was doing. So, it’s not surprising that now another 3 months have passed, and we have a seasonal shift again, it makes sense to slow down and look inwards for a moment. Taking stock of where you are now, and how you got here, is vital for the resilience of your practice. It can be so easy to get caught up in work and projects that we don’t acknowledge how much we are doing. It can easily feel like we are behind or not managing the things we hope to do. But, by spending a bit of time looking at it properly, right now, you will notice the things that are easily overlooked, you will see just how busy and full your time already is. Hopefully this awareness will help you be kinder to yourself as you launch into summer.

So, to help you with your own mid year review I’ve created a pdf of questions and starting points for reflection. The Creative Practice Midyear Review download is on my website now. I hope you enjoy spending some time reflecting this week!
