My writing over the past 8 years has shifted and adapted with my practice. When I started I was focused on writing & communication skills and my weekly blog posts echoed this – lots of how to’s and quite didactic posts. Then, as my work expanded to support mostly emerging makers’ practices I found myself writing about creativity itself, and exploring my own creative practice.
The pandemic shifted many things – the scope of my professional work shrunk and I focused primarily on mentoring and sustainability. Alongside this I began to follow the cycle of the year as a guide for my own reflection and found that this gentle, holistic approach worked for my clients too. And so the writing responded to what nature was teaching us about our creativity and rhythms. Gone were the days of weekly blog posts. The writing slowed to once a month (which felt accessible to me as someone with new chronic health issues).
Now I find myself in a new place again: my practice is directed towards care and cannot be separated from my concerns about being human in this time of polycrisis and collapse. And so the writing adapts too. I may write less now, but I hope I write more honestly, in a way that acknowledges the full responsibilites we have to ourselves, each other and this wondrous planet we call home.
This is the repository for the whole lot of writing. I’ve decided not to edit out the parts I’m no longer happy with. I’ve curated collections that are thematic, that point to things I’d like you to know, or that might be things I think you are interested in. But there’s also a link at the bottom to the full archive where you can meander back in time if you choose.

Every solstice, equinox and cross-quarter day I offer reflection prompts and an essay that try to capture the seasonal shift that is happening in our world and reminds you to take a pause and consider how you are feeling within yourself, your practice and within the wider ecosystem of your community and the collective.

Written at the shift of the seasons (the solstices, equinoxes and cross-quarter days) I like to reflect on how I am feeling within myself and my practice as we collectively move with/as nature in these moments.
These essays give a fair picture of who I am, the things I care about/think about and how I approach the work I do.
